The situation is exactly like the others posted. Someone came to the door representing Commerce; asked to see the PGE bill (which we pay online); stated we had received three mailings (which we had supposedly been aware of...not!); didn't have a card; didn't have any information to hand out; was unable to direct us to an online source; gave the impression this would save us money; etc....and when we didn't say"oh yes let me show you my private bills and talk with you about something you have no info on to give me" gave up and rather rudely walkrd away!

If you have no pge bill there is no need to disscuss any opertunity... you got more than 5 minus to type online but you don't have 5mins to listen...

I don't see you use any logic from a professional. If you knew what is on your bill it is not a big deal if anyone looked at it.

Poster "Ridiculous" from Fair Oaks, CA is indeed RIDCULOUS! In his attempt to defend the company, he actually made them look even shadier! :zzz :grin :grin :grin :zzz

Had my second encounter with Commerce Energy this afternoon. Two young men followed behind my elementary school child as he was walking home from the getting off the bus right to my door.

The men did have uniforms, pamphlets, business cards or and company identification other than a lancet with a piece of paper slid inside with the word Commerce typed on it. The men asked to see my Delmarva utility bill to make sure i was getting the best rates. I told them there is no way in *** im handing a stranger any of my bills but id be happy to consider their company as a potential energy supplier if they have a website or literature for me to look over. The response i got was a blank stare and was then asked for my bill AGAIN!

I felt very uneasy about the ebcounter and extremely thankful that my husband just happened to be home early from work.

I worry about my elderly neighbors and home invasions so i called my landlord to report the illegal soliciation on private property and then called the police who responed immediately. If you have strangers at your door (especially approaching you in pairs) asking to see you bills DO NOT COMPLY ...CALL THE POLICE.

He did need help. The young people you see going door to door, whether it is as an energy rep, selling magazines, makeup, books, vacuum cleaners and other products, are desperate people who are working for 100% commission.

They can go days, weeks and longer without a paycheck. As much as I feel sorry for them, there is no way I would let a stranger in my home, show them my bils, etc. I also will not stand outside and chat with them.

I say NO THANK YOU and send them on their way. If it is particularly hot, I have been known to give them a cold beverage before shutting the door.

NO they are not after finally be able to cancel them this company is a rip off scam. I do feel bad for the employee after research it seems they also rip them off.

Sounds just like the interaction I had at my door. I especially did not like the hard sell and warning that I could get this offer only that evening while he was in the neighborhood.

I truly wanted to have the time to research this out before I made any decisions, but because he couldn't be bothered to give me specific information or a way to contact him to complete the sale, I decided this "opportunity" was just too off to bother doing business with.

Now they're starting with the telemarketing calls. Sigh.

They do not get paid by the hr, they get paid 50$ for every person they scam. I went to an job interview and smelled nothing but bull ***.

So what part of Commerce Energy was a Scam? Most door to door representative's don't have business cards because they are independent contractors and if the company won't make them an official employee, what makes you think they'll gladly make business cards for them?

And what would the business card do for you? Would you want it so you can easily dismiss him but pretend to call him back? Or were you genuinely interested in contacting him? When people say "do you have a card or something" that usually means they do not care about what the representative has to say so and wish to find an easy way to end the interaction.

As far as not giving you online information, you probably said something like "do you guys have a website i can go to? If you do, then i will take a look at it myself and if i decide i would like to be apart of this company is offering and i will do so online"? If that was your intention then you must understand that in most cases, that either means A: You just wanted to end the interaction and did not have any interest in going online. Or B: If you did choose to go online, that representative would see no profit from doing so.

Although, if you would have gone forward with the program he was offering, i can guarantee he would've gladly gave you the online source.

These guys don't get paid by the hour, if you've ever done a commission based job then you should understand completely.

Especially with these door to door jobs, people feel more inclined to have a bad attitude when they come into contact with a representative from ANY establishment trying to do their job like that man was. If you've never done any door to door work before, you don't know how degrading and embarrassing it can be.

The scam is they are representing themselves as part of your current gas provider, and claim to protect you against a rate increase and will save you money and none of that is true.

im sorry sir, but that is incorrect. They say they are a wholesale gas marketer and you as a consumer have a choice as to whom supplies your gas.

and in the long run sir, they do protect you from pg&e's rising rates. do your research!

The woman I spoke to on the street just kept repeating stuff over and over again, without telling me what I wanted to know. "PG&E is in big trouble", "we SELL gas to PG&E", "PG&E is going to raise gas rates for their mistakes (gas pipeline explosion in San Bruno)", "we will protect you", etc.

She kept asking to see my bill.

When I said I had paperless billing, she wanted me to give her my account number. No way.

Everyone I know who has given these people the time of day and fallen for their sales spiel, has seen their bills increase and they have regretted the decision to switch. The internet is full of complaints from consumers detailing the same thing.

Uhm, no he did not, he said he was representing PG&E which implies he works for the locale gas provider in this area
